Sonnenberg Village
Saurer Blacksmith Shop
The Saurer Blacksmith Shop was actually built back in the early 1900's and operated by George Hommand and then John F. Moser. After having worked there a number of years, Floyd R. Saurer bought it in 1914. Floyd retired in 1967 after 53 years by his anvil and sledge. The blacksmith shop and all it's contents remain today just as Floyd left them. The first step in moving the blacksmith shop to the Sonnenberg Village is to catalog and store all of the tools. Once this time-consuming job is completed, the Saurer Blacksmith Shop will be dismantled and reconstructed in the Sonnenberg Village.
