Swiss Genealogy

The Kidron Community Historical Society Heritage Center has a computer-based genealogy database that now contains over 675,000 names and is part of the over 100 databases that make up the Swiss Anabaptist Genealogical Association (SAGA). The SAGA database contains over 3 million names. Membership in SAGA is secured on their website.

Anyone is welcome to stop in at the Heritage Center during regular business hours of the Heritage Center and access our genealogy database or the SAGA database for free.

The research library inside the Heritage Center is available to use on Thu & Sat 11AM-3PM.

Over the decades, the Kidron-Sonnenberg Heritage Center has assembled an impressive collection of research material. Genealogies, notebooks detailing life in Kidron from baseball teams to the fire department to one-room schools, newsletters, maps, and resources about the history of the Amish and Mennonites are just some of the items in our library. Many of these items are rare, custom-created or expensive to own privately. We welcome visitors to make use of our collection. Together, these items tell the story of our community. It is a story worth both preserving and sharing. Some family histories are available for purchase in our gift store. A list of those items may be found on the gift store order form.

We will respond to written and email inquires addressed to: Kidron Community Historical Society, P.O. Box 234, Kidron, Ohio 44636-0234. We are sorry but we cannot fulfill research requests that require access to other SAGA databases for written requests.

If you wish to access our database via the internet, you may do so by joining SAGA and obtain the information from our genealogy database through their system. Our genealogy database cannot be accessed directly through the internet.

Thank you for your interest in our Mennonite, Swiss, and Amish heritage.
