The Kidron Community Historical Society is located in the village of Kidron in Wayne County, Ohio. We collect, research, preserve, and display the available historical material, including relics, documents and books, connected with the history of the Kidron-Sonnenberg area of Ohio.
Kidron-Sonnenberg Heritage Center
We maintain a nationally acclaimed historical museum, the Kidron-Sonnenberg Heritage Center, on the square in Kidron, Ohio (across from Lehman’s Hardware store). A large genealogical computer database and research library is available to patrons in the museum, with a focus on Amish and Mennonite ancestry.
Sonnenberg Village
We also developed the 5-acre Sonnenberg Village located just north of Kidron along Hackett Road where we maintain and preserve historical buildings and implemented sustainable living methods that feature the use of renewable energy, green building technology, and sustainable gardening and landscaping techniques.
We welcome you to browse our site and learn more about our Swiss heritage.
Our Board helps to lead the historical society on a path of growth and prosperity, enabling the organization to continue providing its current services and programs while developing new ones. The board meets to discuss administrative matters like budgets, new programs, activities, fundraising, policies, acquisitions, and volunteer roles.
